Provence tablecloths are the stars of the Great British Sewing Bee 2020

Garments made from Provence tablecloths

Colourful tablecloths from Provence took centre stage in World Sewing Week, episode 8 of BBC TV’s Great British Sewing Bee 2020.

In this quarter-final episode, as part of the transformation challenge the contestants had to make a brand new outfit out of Provencal table cloths. Making skilled use of the tablecloths’ paisley patterns and vibrant provencal motifs, the talented sewers created a girl’s dress, a kimono, a halter neck top and skirt, a pair of ruffled trousers and a Japanese inspired jacket. The winner of this challenge was Clare Bradley with her little girl’s dress in striking blue and yellow with a lemons pattern. Clare went on to be crowned the overall winner of this year’s competion.
